Yay, March has arrived! It’s been a pretty busy couple of months to finally get here. I haven’t had a lot of time to read, but toward the end of February I got back into the swing of things and picked up a few new books, so today I am sharing the books I read in February and some that I hope to read this month. Feel free to share your March tbr list with me in the comments – I’d love to hear about what you’re reading!
February Wrap-Up:
Books Started: 4
Total Books Read: 1.75
DNFs: 0
Black City by Elizabeth Richards
Rating: 3 stars
A friend of mine let me borrow this book since it’s one of his favorites. It reminded me of a mix between the Lorien Legacies series, The Fever King, and Romeo and Juliet, with the smallest, teeny-tiniest hint of a VE Schwab-esque novel. I know that’s a lot of parallels, but that’s what it reminded me of, so we’re totally going with that. The reading was easy and the plot was pretty good, but the shallowness of the characters and the very small amount of worldbuilding left something to be desired. I’ll post a review of the book soon and link it here.
Freaky In Fresno by Laurie Boyle Crompton
I didn’t finish this one last month, but I’m still intent on getting through the last fourth of it in March. It’s not quite my taste in books, but still pretty good and has held my interest. I’m not sure how I feel about the characters – for trying to pass off as each other after a body switch, they don’t do a very good job of staying in character. Then again, maybe that’s what makes the story believable. I don’t even know.
March TBR
Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte
I won a used ARC of this title in a giveaway last summer, and I got about four pages in before I got busy, set it aside, and picked up other books. Now that I have time and I’ve realized it’s still sitting on my shelf…I’m going to read it!
Waiting For Tom Hanks by Kerry Winfrey
This is a rom-com. I’d never picked up a rom-com until now, but I’m looking forward to this one. Looks promising. And just between you, me, and the entire internet, I didn’t know Tom Hanks starred in rom-coms. So that was an interesting fact I learned because of this book. Cool.
Letters To The Lost by Brigid Kemmerer
I read the second book, More Than We Can Tell, and loved it. It’s what got me into the rest of the author’s books. However, every time I’ve gone to the library, it’s been checked out. Fingers crossed that the next time I go for a library run, it’s there waiting for me. I mean, I could put it on hold…or buy it…*shrugs* (why am I making life so hard for myself…just put the book on hold, MC!!!)
Beyond the Blog
Aside from homework and the craziness that goes along with that, I’ve been bingeing Criminal Minds (I just finished season 7 last night). I’ve also been watching season 11 of Project Runway with my mom, which has been really fun. Man, if your girl could sew like that, she’d have a full set of Grisha keftas by now. Haha. But no, really. What I wouldn’t give for a Corporalki kefta of my own. *heart eyes*
On another note, I restarted editing my WIP! It felt so good to pull up the word doc and start cutting and rewriting again. I got most of a chapter completely edited last night – stayed up into the wee hours of the morning to do so, but shhhh, we don’t have to talk about that. My goal is to have at least three chapters edited by April, and if I can tackle school and accomplish more than three, that would be even better!
What did you read/write/watch last month? What do you hope to accomplish in March? Let me know in the comments!
