May and June have been very busy months for me, but I’m finally getting back to blogging again! I’ve decided to do something a little different and write a life update post.
So without further ado, here is a glimpse of some of the things I’ve been doing!
Revising the first draft of my novel.
It’s taken me some time to get motivated to work on editing the first draft – I finished it last summer and decided to take a bit of time off before coming back to it with a fresh set of eyes and a red pen. Well, I took a bit more time off than expected. I’m hoping between my newfound inspiration and Camp Nano (July!!!), I’ll keep at it and not lose sight of the end goal: to hold my own book in my hands!
Discovering I like green tea.
I went to a iced tea tasting at a little tea shop, which was quite enjoyable! Before then, I’d never tried green tea (aside from Arizona and other bottled drinks…they aren’t half as good as the freshly steeped kind). I found it to be really nice! I bought some and tried it hot, and of course it was still very delicious. I love when a tea is equally good when iced or hot.
Catching up on ARCs.
One of my childhood dreams was to be a famous blogger or YouTuber who received lots of goodies from various companies to review (boxes or letters addressed to me was always a fun surprise and still is!). Well, I’m not famous and it’s not makeup or perfume or whatnot, but THEY’RE BOOKS! Which is like five million times more me than reviewing eye shadow palettes. So, my dream has been realized! I tend to find a few ARCs and then one or two books I’ve bought for myself on my doorstep every month, which is always exciting. I do a happy dance whenever I see a package from a publisher, haha. Anyway, I’m focusing on reading through some of the ARCs I’ve received over the past couple of months. My favorite so far is Tiger Queen by Annie Sullivan, which will be published in September by Blink YA.
I’m taking swim lessons!
It feels a bit weird to admit I’ve gone through so many years of my life without really knowing how to swim well. I took lessons when I was very little, but it was an outdoor pool and it rained a lot so lessons were often canceled. Needless to say, I didn’t learn very much. But now I’m finally learning! I’m looking forward to summer vacation so I can try out all my new skills. Swimming is more fun than ever now. Who knows, maybe I have an inner mermaid who’s finally showing her fins.
